The Modal Institute's project approach is focused on meeting the specific needs of an organization or industry that meets the following requirements: (a) it is a situation where there is no off-the-shelf (market) solution; (b) is directed to one of the Modal Institute's areas of activity (artificial intelligence, information or related fields) and / or one of the priority sectors (transport, water, renewable energy or similar); and (c) there is room for work based on sound approaches of a technical-scientific-technological nature.
The Innovation Promoting Environments (APIs), established by Decree 9.283 / 2018, are shared spaces between a Science, Technology and Innovation Institution (ICT), such as the Modal Institute, and other companies or organizations interested in developing projects, ventures, processes and / or innovative businesses in a given area.
The Modal Institute began with the work of professors and researchers who decided to apply their knowledge to improve the market. The experience of several years teaching in universities and courses has enabled this team to build tailor-made skills and training to meet the needs of different sectors, with levels and modalities appropriate to each situation. The result is professionals with differentiated qualification and high level of coupling with the demands of each sector.
The ability to make an informed decision necessarily involves a thorough knowledge of the subject to be decided. The Modal Institute conducts technical and economic feasibility studies (EVTEAs), regulatory impact analyzes (AIRs) and other types of work in order to know a particular subject in depth. The results come in the form of technical reports that underlie everything from market decisions to public policy.
Our team has many years of experience in planning and executing projects of different configurations, both public and private. Over time, Modal Institute has developed specific competencies and developed innovative methodologies to identify needs, build diagnostics, develop scenarios, assess risks, monitor actions and control project execution.
The need to innovate to improve processes, offer new products and services, reduce costs, create business models, optimize results and stimulate the development of markets or communities is always special for Modal Institute. We view any project that has an innovation bias as a special case, allocating the best available thinkers to aggregate different visions and create solutions that bring concrete results to solve different situations.

We work with basic and applied research in the areas of Mathematical Logic, Information and Computation. We have a multidisciplinary team of researchers directly linked to the Modal Institute and with partnerships and occasional collaborators from other national and / or international institutions. This research network allows us to investigate and seek solutions in science for solving people's everyday problems, bringing academic work closer to the needs of society and the market.
